I am working on my next piece in the understanding of Seid. This next topic has to do with the idea of seid practitioner being men. The term ergi has been used in a few sagas but based on the research I have been doing, I am not sure that it actually represents what my initial interpretation was. Also, there are different beliefs as to whether or not men were "allowed" to practice seid or was it strictly the "job" of women. I hope to have my initial piece of information up by tomorrow evening.
Also, yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking with Mistress Ariana (in the SCA) regarding my research. We had a lovely conversation regarding my research. The discussion about the similarity between the Norse religion and other traditional religions. The similarities between the blot rituals (of slaughtering an animal and spilling/spreading the blood for protection) and the Jews in ancient Egypt that spread the blood of a slaughtered lamb to protect the first born male. The ritual is almost identical but the time period and locations are far between. There would have been no interaction between the two groups.
I look forward to continuing the communication with others as well as the research.
Again, thank you for following along. Please feel free to leave a comment or ask a question.
