Awhile back I was with a great friend of mine and we were talking about her cooking blog and her writing and I told her about my blog. She told me that she was given some advice about blogging and writing..."just write, it doesn't matter what you blog or write about as long as you do it consistantly. Let the thoughts flow and this allows you to be creative without fear." So, even though it has been awhile I am going to try to write on here at least once a week. Even if I have not made progress on my pieces.
However, I do have to report that i did finish my son's two-toned tunic with dual chess pieces. It looks good if I do say so myself. After I put the appliques onto the tunic, I did not like the edging...so anothr friends of mine recommended that I try couching around the edge to cover the applique. So I did, and it was the first time that I had tried couching... it is fairly easy, at least this one was. I will post a picture of the finished piece on my page of pictures.
I am still working on my challange piece and have made several modifications from the original thoughts. I am still practicing the stitches because I want to make sure that I do this project justice. I feel that I have begun to master the plaited braid stitch. In order to do this, I found a video on youtube that I was able to download and therefore watch over and over to make sure I understaood the process. Trying to learn this stitch from a book is not an easy thing to do and I do not recommend it. The video was easy to follow and understand. Thankfully I have great family members and I was given a gift card to a great needlepoint store in garden grove and was able to purchase some of the items that I will need to get started on this project. Once I am able to get enough money I will purchase more of the thread that I will need. But at least I can get started on the project.
