I have done it!
After several trials and conversations, I have finally made (1) fur/leather mitten. After researching and discussions, I was able to come up with a pattern that works. I am absolutely happy. I do have to say that I need a few days before I start on the second mitten only because sewing through leather (even though it is very soft) and the leather needle, it causes the fingers to hurt. I did use a thimble.
One thing that you definitely need to do when working with fur is to make sure that you cut away the hair from the area in which you are sewing. Quite often you will get the hair caught in the thread.
I am excited to finish the second mitten.
